So anyway, while I had my Hamer B12S out for a fun day of jamming, I thought that it might be nice to give it the world-famous Paul W. treatment, minus the Scratch-X which I don't have. Things went well… at first.

The sight of the greenish-blue liquid was a delight for the eyes, the faint coconut scent brought to mind Paul's much referenced Hawaian Tropic® bikini contest (the high-heels were a bit of a problem here, but that's a story for another day). The bass polished up wonderfully and looks better than it has in about 15 years. Neat, huh? Not so fast Kiddo!

For decades I've had the habit of leaning my instrument up against the front of a couch or upholstered chair. It might make some people cringe, but it's never been a problem for me. So, I lean the finished bass up against the couch and stand back to admire it (nobody was watching!). I smiled and the bass showed its comtempt by starting its heavy headstock and neck sliding towards the floor. Only a Boris Becker-on-Wimbledon-Centre-Court dive saved the day.

So now I have a super shiny bass and I have to actually buy a stand! Darn you, Paul! When will your tyranny end!

The down side of the treatment, Doc...... bass/guitar dropsy! Them's the breaks.... well, nearly! Glad you got to it in time.

Wonder if Paul's cut a deal with any stand manufacturers.........

Reminds me of using Meguiar's wax on my 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 way back when ... after waxing the trunk lid, the polishing cloth would slide off it, and there wasn't much of a slope to it!

Well, at least it didn't slide off your couch!

Jocelyn, if it's any compensation, just think of the millions of dollars from the manufacturer of Zymol Dr. Jinglejangle will have to do without, now that the public won't have access to all of his blatant 'product placement'...

(It was a joke, Doc, I swear....no, put down that spray gun!)

Not to get off topic, but I'd rather hear about the bikini contest and high heels. Hey I didn't mention it first.

Sheena said; "The more you treat them, the more they ask from you". Hmm… I had a couple of girlfriends like that. Tis why I'm but a pauper. (Not really, but it's always easier to blame others.)

Brian, the bikini contest will be "discussed" on a different forum. The high heels were banned after a few injuries to the spectators.

BTW, attempts at humour aside, my story about the bass was true. I'll buy another stand after I move.

I like the Hamer 12. I used to have a 1978 Hamer 8 that had a well tapered mahogany neck and one OBL pickup. The 8 was much easier to play faster on, but I decided to sell it and keep just the 12.

I'm aware of the Waterstone 12-strings and would like to try one sometime. Perhaps you would allow me to… ah, nevermind - you're too busy.

Also, I thought his last name was Singer.
