Old news, huh?

Nope. The newest is this design triumph--the 2000 Fender© Shelby© Limited Edition© Stratocaster©!!!

Only 200© to be made by the Fender Custom Shop®, and for sale at $2400 each. They are already turning up on Ebay...

I believe they build these in Asia and store them in the "Custom Shop" overnight and during potty breaks, just for truth in advertising's sake, you understand.

And here's a shot of that ol' shyster himself, Carroll You-Know-Who, He-Who-MUST-Be-Named, holding one up at Barrett-Jackson. This one was in the trunk of the FIRST (!!!) 2007 Mustang GT Shelby Edition, which went to some sucker or shill for $60K.

Hype continues to triumph over substance. What DRECK.

Poor Carroll must have needed a new pacemaker or hip replacement or something, and had to sell off a little more of his once-noble reputation for a buck or two to afford the operation... Image

Back in the Sixties he built some great cars, though Image

I recall fondly one well-balanced aluminum-bodied 289-powered dream of an AC Cobra to drive.... (sigh)

I believe Carroll lends his name out to get money for his charities, but the majority of that money never makes it to the charities.

I have some very good friends who were inside the Shelby organization "back in the day".

All I can say is that Carroll's public persona is quite at odds with his private life.

Fender, on the other hand, puts their lack of vision and bankrupt imagination out there for everyone to see.

When they do The Gremlin™ Limited Edition, I sure hope the DENIM option is offered.

Utterly correct to use Scratch-X and Zymol on this one.

Maybe they'll eventually offer a "Chevy Van" version in the near future. I can see it now........covered in lime green shag carpet, an E-Z Wider dispenser on the back of the head stock and a built-in 8 Track tape player with Sammy Johns on a continuous loop...."Makin' love in my Chevy van an' that's alright with meeeeeeeee".

I would definitely pre-order this one, to go with my Authorized Chevy Van™ tape machine! Yes sir, in 1978 I bought a 3M 16 track recorder from the Sound Pit studios in Atlanta. To demonstrate that the machine was in fine working order, they played me an actual master tape recorded on this machine. You guessed it- it was Chevy Van!! Obviously I had no choice but to exclaim, "I'll take it!" This machine keeps on a-rockin', to use a van-era phrase, and it was also used to make such Ted Nugent masterworks as "Stranglehold". Astute listeners will hear the exact same weird phasey bass sound on Chevy Van! But has anyone seen the film? Sammy's smash hit was a film track, arguably the "Titanic" of its day.
