Fixing string buzz from bridge?

I am getting an annoying string buzz on my Rick 1997 SPC/VB which seems to be coming from the bridge rather than fret buzz. I am using heavier gauge flatwound strings, whereas the last owner used much lighter strings. It is most noticeable on the B string.
I suspect it is because the strings aren't sitting properly in the notches. Does anyone have any other ideas, or suggestions on how I can fix the problem? I wondered whether I could get a good quality file and have a crack at slightly widening the notches myself, but I don't want to do any damage and maybe it is a job for a pro? Unfortnately there aren't too many guitar techs in my neck of the woods, so I'd rather do it myself if possible.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
