Midnight blue?

This is the lightest blue I've seen for a midnight blue. Must be the lighting? I've only seen pics, all have been much darker.

nice blue

That looks about right. MID is rough to capture accurately....it's the flash that makes this one look light/bright. When I was trying to get pics of my ex-MID V63 it looked like this as well in the pics but was a run of the mill MID in person.

Thanks, Brian. Seeing that blue makes me want one of those, too.
When can I expect this Ric-lusting to end? My guess is, long after the bank account is empty...

I seem to recall that there was a brief period during the summer of '05 when RIC was trying out the paint from a new supplier, or different formulas, or something similar.

I hope Eric or Ben (or John) will correct my statement if I'm remembering this incorrectly.

The "new" Mid Blue, in any event, is a one-step pearlescent paint with a different (more, it would seem) reflectivity than the older, two-step finish. These pictures show a lot of ambient light, and a whole lotta flash. I think the actual color is a good deal more subdued, though still nice and "blue"; other years and mixes are grayer. In color terms we say, "less chroma".

Yeah, that chroma stuff is toxic.

We haven't used a two-step finish in many years now, in fact coinciding with the elimination of silver from the line up. (The silver was the under-coat.)

But as you say, they goosed the blue a bit more a year or so ago, to give it better reflectivity. This photo, however, is just the product of flash and a lousy sensor in the camera.

Thanks John.
So I guess an '07 wouldn't be quite as "blue". Darn.

John, did you mean to say, "We haven't used a two-step finish for many years now"?

Came out with the opposite meaning...

If you ask me, I'd tell you and show you that the '07 Midnight Blue is quite impressive.
