can you please post pictures (if you have any available) of mid 70's 4001s w/ their pickguard off, the back of the pickups, wiring harness etc.

Silly me, I thought you wanted a copy of the Star Stowe / Rickenbacker 4001 AZG Playboy centerfold!

Here's the pots and wiring under the pickguard of my '72 4001 FG:-

While Darren's guts are 100% correct, I also believe this to be a 72 factory stock harness.

The red wire above the smallest cap is the bypass wire which is not stock.

Now that's what I call getting to the guts of the issue!
