Looking for a new Bass

I took a 2 year leave of absence from playing Bass to try to learn guitar. I got a little bored after 25 years or so of playing bass. I got back from Vacation last week and just left the guitar in its case and grabbed my Ric. so I start looking around for another bass and play a load of them. Gibson Money bass feels real nice as does the natural SG. of course I have played Fender P and J basses.

nothing at all feels or sounds as good to me as my Ric!

Damn you Rickenbacker for making me save money and just play the 1 bass I have!

LOL

The obvious answer to your dilemma is:

Buy a 2nd Rick bass!

I may look into that option. I have always wanted to try one of the Loredo's but they are about as hard to find in a store as a 4003.

I played 2 Gibsons today, a Money bass and a SG supreme and they felt real nice. Both were the natural finish but the pickups didnt have a great sound to them. kind of weak on the treble and very muddy on the bass, not really a good blend...

I actually liked the PJ combo Fender now has out.

I agree with Paul.

I didn't like the Money bass at all...but that's just me. General reviews I have heard of them are iffy.
If you're going Gibson, go Thunderbird!

I also agree with Paul. Heck, that's what I did and it turned out to be the smartest decision I've made regarding a musical instrument.

Agree with Paul, Joey, and Robert. Two Rics are better than one. My 1982 and 1998 basses are different animals due to the pickups, set neck vs. neck through, etc.

And the Laredo is enough different to play/sound like a different bass, though still the Rick tones are there.

a second Ric would probably Drive me Insane! I like to have 1 thing that works for me. if I had 2 I would feel like I am neglecting one.

Steve, as many times as I have tried the Tbird and tried tolike it is just comes up short for me.

I played something for the first time today that I have seen a 100 times but never paid any attention to....

a Geddy Lee J bass. real nice. neck was awesome and the tone was killer
