A Word To The Not So Wise

I have watched with interest and chagrin over the past couple of days to see how far some members are prepared to go in their posts in discussing the violation of RIC's trademarks.
For new members to ask questions of this nature out of ignorance is one thing, however, from people who know better is another quite another. To egg others on in their attempts in violating RIC trademarks is equally problematic. Gentle corrections from others seemed to have little impact on those who threw boundaries to the wind.
Simply put, those who post in ways that demonstrate an obvious disregard for RIC's intellectual property rights will lose their posting privileges.
As I have said so often before, there are some places where you can disregard the rights of others. This is not one of them. Posting here comes with responsibilities attached. Speech on this Forum is not free when it comes at the expense of others, especially RIC.
My sincerest apologies to John Hall and RIC. I am deeply disapointed in those who I felt knew better and cared.

I guess this would not be a good time to suggest starting a "Rickenbacker TRC" category on the main page? Sorry Peter, I couldn't resist.

I'm surprised it went on as long as it did.
I think the heat's getting to everyone.
There still seems to be at least two feuds continuing as we speak (post?).

It took me a long time and a lot of hard work and heartbreak along the way before I could buy a Rickenbacker.
I never could accept second best and when I finally became a Rickenbacker owner I knew it was worth the wait.
It took a long time and a lot of hard work for these instruments to come about and I think we are right to take a hard view of those that look upon someone elses products as fair game for ripping off.
People have always customised guitars but the line has to be drawn between home made mods and the fake parts business which is what I see on sale all over the place.
Guitar shops selling fake Ricks here in the UK probably think they are catering for a market but so do drug dealers and fake watch peddlars...they are no better.
Give me the real thing anytime.

I support Rickenbacker's use of whatever means are necessary to protect their own rights & property.
Of the classic American instruments, they have always stood alone in this way.
Let them continue to cast a dark shadow on all those that would venture to cheapen the name!
Give me genuine Rickenbacker and burn the garbage!

I like Ric basses but I don't jump on the bandwagon and agree with all Rickenbacker corporate policies ... I also like many other basses made by other companies ... I like a quality instrument no matter who builds it ...

Discord over a piece of plastic. It's pretty funny, I mean you gotta see the humour in it, don't you?
Geez, I hope those guys with their fingers on the button DON'T play Rickenbackers, or music at all for that matter. It's embarrassing.

...sigh....
"Why do you bang your head against the wall?"
"Because it feels good when you stop!"

Be glad you missed it Sheena. It's strange how a small piece of plastic can turn grown men into schoolboys.

Yep, i know, and i'm glad, Brian. With my temper, i'd better miss everything of that kind, and unfortunately i wasn't lucky enough to miss all the rants here... i've heard that people sometimes hurt or even kill each other for small pieces of metal or plastic or whatever, but i wouldn't want to be there...
