On August 16th it's 30 years since Elvis passed away. Here's a preliminary mix of one song from the forthcoming album with the norwegian artist Stephen Ackles. Yours truly on bass. Sorry but no Rickenbacker this time.

Bill Black, Elvis Presley, Scotty Moore
When they first hit the Southern circuit, they were billed as the Hillbilly Cat and the Blue Moon Boys.

How come Elvis never became a better guitar player than just the cowboy-chord strummer he was. I guess the answer is that he never had to.

Same reason Andre Segovia never developed much of a singing voice...or pelvic moves, for that matter...

Andre was Andres's brother; the guy who turned to making $1 wine in the bathtub.

My Grandfather John made wine that way also. He also made Sauerkraut in those big washtubs.

...And two days later I will turn 30. The King passed on... and the Jester was born. Image

So far, my favorite thing about the Elvis commemoration has been the special edition Reese's Peanut Butter Cups with banana cream in them.

And how about those m&m-phetamines?

I was being facetious. I just think it's funny how much STUFF there is out there now. I walk through Kroger's and there's candy in a huge Reese's display along with Pez dispensers. It's just funny.

Long live Elvez! Vive le roi!

I love the Beatles, esoteric modern rock groups, and weedy alternative bands -but sometimes Elvis is what I need to hear. That voice -along with his bright superjumbo strumming and Scotty Moore's BRILLIANT playing changed, well, everything.
