Rumours are abound that David Lee Roth is about to rejoin Van Halen for a 50 city tour.

Yeah, I guess I still dig some Van Halen tunes. I do think their place in rock history is overrated.

This is kinda old news as they were planning the tour before Eddie went to rehab(again!).How about Wolfgang on bass?They're going to miss Michael Anthony, especially his harmonies.

No Micheal Anthony. I guess Eddies son is going to play bass.

Maybe Anthony's bass playing is replaceable. Certainly not his backing vocals. His voice is as much of their identity as anything else in the band. For me, without him in the lineup, it's not worth seeing.

Here's my take.

David Lee Roth is not the best singer/frontman that they ever had IMO. I was glad to see Sammy take his spot from a vocal perspective, but to be honest I missed David's on stage theatrics. I certainly did not miss his offstage antics. I know that is not a popular notion with die hard VH fans but I like their music and even though the band is full of itself their music is great.

Michael Anthony is going to be sorely missed by all VH fans. Perhaps Eddies son can fill his shoes? Who knows, the jury is out on that as far as I am concerned. Would I go see them if they land at a venue close to me....you bet. They almost always put on a great show.

I'm avoiding this controversy on the grounds of apathy, except to say that VH always amazed me with their patented 'one part harmonies'...

You'll think I'm makin' this up, but I played drums on 'Jump' at a gig a couple of months ago...(also 'Roundabout' and F. Zappa's 'Echidna's Arf').

One part harmonies? Hmmm? That's about as impossible to figure out as some of Eddies more intricate guitar parts.

How can their be any harmony without at least two parts? See 3d below.

Are you kiddin'? Half the time I can't figure out where I left my pick...

EVH holds a place I believe for some ground breaking guitar styling. I never really cared much for their tunes save for Cathedral. I recall that the bassist had this routine of guzzling what looked to be a large bottle of JD while on stage with much bravado...I also heard that is was really ice tea which ****** me off ..if you're going to give a dad example..give a bad example...

You have to drink JD on the rocks George. Every guitar player knows that.
