have a couple of new models to choose from. Reports from Music Fair in Japan say that a 360/12V66 MG, 370/12V67 MG and a 4003VPCB FG, a 4003VPCB JG and a 4003 BTJG will be available. Cool!

Among other features, these have checkered binding!
Discuss! :-)

Whoa, John, what yu talkin' bout????
What is the 4003VPCB? I get the VP, presumably vintage p/ups, but what about CB, "C Series with Binding"?
Very cool, thanks for sharing!

Comes with vintage silver case.
Only 24 units of the 4003VPCB FG and JG respectively, will be produced.
List price is 260,000 JPY (=2,379.21 USD).

I'd love to have one in Fireglo!

In an email exchange, Mr. Hall told me these new "Japan Only" models are strictly a Shinseido thing to be featured in the Yokohama Music Fair which took place in late October 2003.

The 12 strings are quite cool. 21-fret necks too. Neat!!!

Love the checkerboard basses, but why not take the extra step and put in full width fingerboard inlays?

You'll probably see these as regular production models in the USA soon.. Remember the Blue Boys...

Great to see checker binding on a new bass, it's been a long time. Does it come with the vintage hardware? I'll take mine full width inlay as well & the pickup closer to the neck.

I find these "Japanese Only" models to be exciting. These models will be highly sought after. I especially like the idea of 21 fret 360/12 and 370/12 models. Let's hope there are some surprises ahead for North America as well.

I wonder if the 360/12 and 370/12 have thin tops like the Carl Wilson model?

Maybe these Japan only 360/370 21 fret guitars are made from over-runs of the Carl Wilson series. Weren't there some 360/370 21 fret guitars made from the McGuinn over-runs about ten years ago?
