Let it Be -Naked

Scott Muni a Dj in the NY area has been playing the new/old release of "Let it be-Naked". This is the album without Phil Spector's spector.
The mix is great! It is funny hearing the songs without "the wall of sound" they sound so much crisper and musical IMHO.
Worth keeping an ear out.

Here in Southern California, KRTH-101 was going to play it sometime this month, but I don't remember when. If I find out and it's not after-the-fact, I'll post the info.

There's a "Let it Be" special on WXRT in Chicago this Thursday at 9:00 pm. I believe the actual CD release date is one week from today.

I've heard I Me Mine and Let It Be from what was claimed to be from the unreleased album on two stations here (Beatle shows), and if they were (I believe 'em) they sounded AWESOME! Forgetting the de-spectorization, they had PUNCH!

Of course anyone in the world can get that program on the web, just figure out the change in time zones and click on the previous post's link. BTW, anyone in the So Cal area, the Art of John Lennon is on Display this weekend (Nov. 14-16) at Borders Books on the 3rd Street Prominade in Santa Monica. Billed as the largest touring collection.

Listening to 'Dig a Pony' they edited the beginning where George comes in with "All I want is..."

This release connects the White Album and Abbey Road in a way we never suspected. It makes so much sense, but it's a transition we couldn't make on our own. It clearly shows that Phil Spector's involvement occurred while the Beatles were preocupied with other issues. What a revelevation.

I always read that the did the Get Back stuff- then shelved it- then went into the studio to do Abbey Road- yes, some of the tunes were worked on in the Get Back sessions.

Is it just me... When I listen to TLAWR it sounds to me that Macca overdubbed the vocal - just sounds so much like today - what are your thoughts?
By the way - love the new versions

I don't think so, I think it's just cleaned up a bit. There's a version Paulie did on the Japanese version of the Flowers in the Dirt CD in 1990, to me the "Naked" version sounds like it's the real thing.

I never really was fond of LIB till this morning while I was listening to the new LIBN on my 30 minute commute to work....the "wall of sound" has been knocked down.....Is it just me or does this record sound much more fresh?? LAWR,Across the Universe,the added Two of Us.....I just LOVE this version.....any chance any of these songs will be released as a single???

I love the new sound of the old songs but I find now The long and winding road a little bit empty. Wix (Paul’s keyboard in the last two tours) plays Spector’s violins part for this song in McCartney’s concerts, so maybe Paul himself wasn’t so in disagree with the old arrangement. What do you think?
