A real 'time machine' kind of a deal!
I wonder, would the caps have dried out just sitting, or does that happen only with use?

Oh man is that cool! I never played through a V-9. Wonder what that distortion sounds like?
From what I've been told, you should run your tube amp like once a month to keep the caps from going bad.

From what he states in the auction, he's had a tech go over it and all that needed to be done was to replace the tubes in the power section. I'd have to think that once you fired it up for any amount of time, you'd possibly need a bit more than "just tubes", especially on a 32 year old amp.
That said, I'd still dig it. It'd be the Queen of the Basement, never leaving the house! Any guess on what it'll fetch?

Caps do dry out with sitting. You's have to trust the tech in this case, though. This thing is gorgeous!

It's a guitar amp but some bass players have also used them, they are also very rare, this is one of a kind, but I don't think it will get what a NOS SVT would fetch.

Ain't she a beaut! I too wonder what it will go for.
I kept hearing the Rocky Horror song "The Time Warp" while reading this auction!

Supposedly Ampeg developed the V9 for Keith Richards because he had been using a bass SVT and they wanted to give him a product geared towards guitar use. Some bass players preferred the V9 because it had a mid bump and was "punchier", it also had a 9X10 cab vs the SVT's 8X10.
I found this tiny pic of a V9 cab on a google image search, very strange looking.
(Can you imagine how loud a guitar would be through this monster.)
