"Could it be that Clough has run out of material?"

Not yet just felt that there was not the interest but we'll see with this, perhaps the last one was wrong song, here's a track you all know but not necessarily all the versions.

Usual thing either post your preference here or send to me.

What I enjoy about this, even with the limited response so far, is how others opinions differ.

On last one I felt certain every one would go for Billy Fury version, which did win, but only because all those who chose his as their favourite were from UK. Billy of course meant nothing in US even though really he was probably the first from Liverpool to make it big, but not part of the beat boom, I'll do a topic on Billy I think.

Here we have one version that was a album track, one made number 2 in US, one made number 4 in UK and the other made 17 and 42 respectively in US and UK, I suspect that for the first time we may have a unanimous decision on the favourite version.

Roy,

Here are my picks, in order of preference.

Version 4
Version 1
Version 3
Version 2 (The arrangement on this version is hideous IMO)

I gave the second place to version 1 since the quality of the vocals was pretty darned impressive. In fairness Version 3 could easily be tied for 2nd place as far as I am concerned.

#4 how can this not be #1?
#1 (the original version) which I also really like.
#2 is that who I think it is?
#3 no idea although it too was good.

great song by all, hard to ruin this one.

I'll echo Jim's vote - 4,3,1,2. I'll also echo Brian's sentiments about version 2.

Only 5 voted to date not really enough to make it a weekly feature perhaps now and then.

Awwwww... Oh well. Nevermind. BTW, the vote started on Tuesday, not on Saturday.

4,1,3,2 is my vote, Roy. Sorry to come so late to the party!

I doubt that #4 will ever be surpassed or equaled.

No probs Peter as Sheena reminded me I did not post till Tuesday, I would like to carry this on as I have said I enjoy the somewhat differing opinions, even something has cut and dried, you would think, as this, produced some surprises so far.

However if little interest then it is difficult to summon up the enthusiasm.

"However if little interest then it is difficult to summon up the enthusiasm"

I find it a bit odd too Roy that not many seem to want to express their opinion about whose version is better. I enjoy this weekly pursuit personally. Obviously there are a few others who do also.

I don't have a lot of time to spend on the forum these days and well to be frank, this area of the forum is frequented a lot by myself, comparatively speaking and therefore tends to garner a lot more of my interest.

I am a bit surprised #2 got so few points... and i've always wondered why topics about "Got (yet another) new Ric" generally get more response than music related threads. Does interest evoke enthusiasm or vice versa? Or maybe both cause each other at the same time?
