That's not a guitar; it's a chameleon!

Interesting you should post that, as there has been much discussion about trademarked shapes relating to the usual suspects: TRC, body shape, bridge shape, etc., but in all this discussion nobody has pointed out the similarity in shape of this pickguard to RIC's basses. It is different enough but I can not recall any other instrument with anything close to this shape.

Jeff, I said something about that weeks ago but it slid. I too wondered about the 4000 series shape.

Since the reissues and the attendant postings, that pickguard was the first thing that drew my attention.
I also forgot earlier - it is really uncanny how the body is just hinted at against that colorful background. Kind of like a Klingon cloaking device is at work.

Well, it
is a Klingon guitar, isn't it?
I remember these guitars from back in my youth when the originals were pretty new! I did play one back then that a friend of mine owned. Heavy, man!!!

Heavy indeed. Someone came over to our music house with a DA bass and I tried it out - lucite is indeed heavy.
