Rick specialist/luthier in London, UK?

Hi there, this Forum is chock full of guys who are very accomplished at setting up and customising Rick basses in the US (eg, Jeff, Dane). Does anyone know of someone similar in London, UK?

Along the lines of a current string ("are Rics overrated") my recently-acquired 1980 4001 does not have the greatest action (despite experimenting with different strings and bridge heights) and - being a complete coward when it comes to matters like tweaking truss rods and fret dressing etc - I would like to get it professionally set up.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You could try Martin Petersen at the Bass Gallery in Camden. Fantastic luthier and a truly nice guy, and his prices are good too!

The UK is a bit barren as far as Ric specialists go it has always appeared to me ! The only guy that I know of that has a real idea is the Rics R Us luthier. I think he is independent, however he knows his stuff. I have just tried to look Rics R Us up and it looks like they have changed the trade name to http://www.rickysounds.co.uk. He doesnt mention that he does refurbs/setups or repair work now. I think it will be worth an email though.

Alternatively, I think RickySounds is located in the East Midlands close to the M1 motorway. There website is

http://www.rickysounds.co.uk/rickyhome.html

I think they set up rics but I'm not sure if they are a licenced franchise or not.
