Goran: I have asked this question on another forum but wanted the benefit of your opinion.

I realize that you have given EFTP the edge over SOTS but I am wondering if you have the same Shadows' track recorded with both of these patches that we might be able to compare?

If not, would you be able to make event a brief comparison for those who may be interested in these patches and the differences between them?

I'll try to make a recording of A: Peace Pipe, B: Apache with both programs some time this week

Thanks Goran. I look forward to hearing the differences between the EFTP and the SOTS in head to head comparisions keeping the guitarist and gear constant.

Hi

I've recorded Apache, Peace Pipe (PP) and Sleepwalk (SW) with MS-EFTP,MS-SLS and with the zoom 508 respectively. (With a few minor glitches..... due to a little lack of concentration.....)

Goran: Thanks very much. What a treat it was to listen to these samples and compare the difference patches.

To begin, I was impressed with al three groups of patches. After several listens through, however, my preference is 1. EFTP, 2. SLS and 3. Zoom 508. The timing of the echo seemed best with the EFTP. The Zoom 508 I found to decay more rapidly than the other two. SLS was credible but not as believable as the EFTP to my ears.

Hi

As your first impression indicates, both devices and all three programs does the job. However ,the decay of the 508 (and the slightly lower echo level), is easily corrected but I chose to use the patches as originally programmed.

I basically agree with your ranking, but I also think that this demonstration proves that they to an average listener sound equally good. And I could easily use any of them for a live gig and feel comfortable about it. Come to think of it, the vast majority of my renditions are recorded with the 508!

I also noted something which I hitherto have overlooked - the output from the MS is considerably higher than from the 508! I think that the 508´s output level is more or less like from the guitar while the MS´s output (with the level out at full throttle) is to high for the amp´s fx loop (´not that it clips or distorts, but I think it affects the overall sound). I will experiment with the output level on the MS.

Hey, while previewing this I couldn't help noticing that there are no spelling errors whatsoever? Not bad for a Swede I guess!

Goran: Who is the author for the Zoom 508 patches?

Geoff Strachan, they are also SLS patches!

Charlie Hall has also written patches for the 508 but I don't think those are up to his normal standard.
