Lots to ponder. Look at the neck heel, for one...

Is it normal for the skunk stripe to finish before the neck block?

Nope. And early Ricks had a squared-off heel.

The finish looks all wrong, and can be seen inside the sound hole, too.

Pickguard and tuners are definitley not original either.

Looks like the strap pins, 'R' tail piece, nut and truss rod cover are genuine Rickenbacker... and that's about it!

The lack of skunk stripe at the neck/body join and finish in the sound hole worry me.

What kind of an idiot would put any sort of non-Rickenbacker pickups in a Rickenbacker in the first place.

No no no there is no justifiable reason whatsoever no no no

I also think it's rather suspicious that the seller never listed the serial number or took a close-up picture of the jack plate. I wonder if John Hall has seen this auction yet? Maybe he can chime in here and let us know what this thing REALLY is.

Robert - John Fogerty and Paul Weller, to name a couple off the top of my head.

I always wondered what filtertrons would sound like in a rick. Too bad that's not a rick. ;)

We've determined that it's not a Rick already?
