Congratulations to the Cats, (Aussie rules football),for making it to the Grand final next week.
Let's hope they can take the big one out, it's been an awfully long time since the last one.

Americans: Seem to think that poverty and failure are morally suspect.
Canadians: Seem to believe that wealth and success are morally suspect.
Brits: Seem to believe that wealth, poverty, success, and failure are inherited.
Aussies: Seem to think that none of this matters after several beers.

"Let's hope they can take the big one out"
Don't they have to bury a dead magpie in the centre at Kardinya Park or endure the hoodoo?

Don't expect any forum posts from Aitch next Saturday! He'll be either at the M.C.G watching his beloved Geelong "Cats" in the Grand Final, or at home, glued to the television watching it live!.......... with a few beers!
Frank and Joe....what can i say? You 2 must be shattered!
As a sign of solidarity, Mr Bishop , i say.....
GO CATS!!!!!

Great thread, Ron..... you beat me to the punch. Yes, it's been 43 long years with a number of heart breaking Grand Final losses along the way. Thanks for the support, Greg. I'll be glued to the telly and downing a few!
Frank and Joe: Commiserations.... your guys put up one hell of a fight. I think the Pies have a very rosy future, though..... you have some terrific young players!
Unfortunately the amateur club I've been involved with for over 35 years (Old Carey Grammarians) suffered an honourable 16 point Grand Final loss yesterday but they have gained promotion to B grade in the competition. We haven't been there since 1975.

International support from Alisha, great to see!
Like your Cats Aitch, my team, Melbourne Demons havent won the "flag" for almost as long as the Cats!(43 years for us,44 for you),i was 4 at the time! So i'm on the Cat bandwagon for this year!
As an aside, for our international forum members, The Melbourne Football club is the oldest football club in the world! Established in 1857! The Cats maybe the second oldest..(In the world) Fact.

That's fantastic, Alisha!
Correct, Greg. Geelong formed in 1859. Interestingly, so did the Melbourne University (Amateur) Football Club and they are still going. They played in the very early days of the VFL before the VAFA was formed in 1892 as the Melbourne Junior Football Association.
The original Port Adelaide Football Club formed in 1870.

And we won't say too much more about them now will we, (Port Adelaide), apart from commiserations LOL
Come on Gerry, you beat us once in a Grand Final, surely you can't barrack for that Port Adelaide mob!
Good on you Alisha for showing your allegiance to the Cats, let's hope the boys do us proud come next Saturday!

Not a word more from me (about those Adelaide infidels, that is).............
I put $50 on Jimmy Bartel @ $10 today...... in the hope that Gary Ablett #2 will win!
Silly me.............

Well, that was $50 well spent Aitch!
James Bartel won "by a mile" even though he didnt play the last 2 matches!
For those not in the know, Bartel won the Charles Brownlow Medal, awarded to the best and fairest player for the 2007 AFL season! A most prestigious and highly coveted award.
Well deserved, i might add!
GO CATS!
