That's a sharp looking Gretsch. An Anniversary? I bet those Filter'Trons sound great. Looks like the tuners have been replaced to Grovers at some point.

This is a Double Anniversary model from '61 with replaced Grover tuners, which look like they may have been changed out a very long time ago, perhaps by it's original owner. I think these pickups were found only on the Anniversary models from the few photos I can find; I believe they are single coils. The guitar is in good shape given it's age, with the usual bangs and scrapes. I think the bridge is not original as it has a wood saddle, not the Space Control I have seen on a couple of pics.
The sound is just fantastic and the playability is truly wonderful, I may even raise the action a bit once I put new strings on it.

Congrats Jeff!
1961 is a FANTASTIC year!

I'm of that "vintage'!
Beautiful old guitar, but is it really green? My monitor doesn't show that.
ENJOY!

This model Gretsch is the only one I let get away from my sticky hands, in order to buy another Rick. The Rick (360/12 WB) is wonderful, but I miss my Annie.
But a 61?
Oh, my!!! Go for it!!!

The Gretsch is 10 years older than me -but it has fewer dings.

Its a horrible guitar. Absolutely horrible. You need to get rid of it immediately. Please email me for an address you should send it to.

I bought it this afternoon from my local Sam Ash, knowing I coould return it in a month if I didn't like it.
I love it!
It does need some TLC, like the pickup selector switch and the usual stuff for a guitar this old.
With time it will be done, right now I just want to play it.
$1500.00
