Just got my RIC, but I need a case.

I just got my first real Rickenbacker bass. It's a 1980 4001 JG. I've had a 360/12 MG for quite a while, but this is my first Ric bass. I picked it up in a trade, but it didn't have the original case. It came with a Modulus bass case, which fits it very well, but I'd really like to get my hands on an actual Ric case. Does anybody on here have one they'd be willing to part with for a reasonable price? Does anybody know where I can snag one, or do I just have to wait for one to pop up on ebay? Also, if anyone has a Modulus they need a case for, I will definitely do some trading. Well, anyways here are some pictures:

Nice bass, I like the way it sticks out of the wall, very anti-gravity! Image

The case looks very nice, I'd just keep it if I were you and eventually get a vintage reissue case.

I know pick of the ricks has new cases for $229 for the plastic ones and $249 for the silver ones, but I'd rather get a used one if I could. It's an older, used bass and I don't have $250 to spend on a new case.

You can order a case for your 4001 - either a newer molded plastic case, or a vintage style case from any authorized Rickenbacker dealer.

I really hate to buy anything from musicians's friend, but if noone's got a slightly beat up used one, I might have to. How do G&G Bass cases, like the ones they make for fender, how do they fit Ric basses?

I have a brand new G&G Fender tweed case for my 77 Walnut but all Rick basses are not the same width. I have two 73 4001 basses and one is 13" wide and the other is 13 1/2" wide. 13" will just squeeze in. Other than that they seem to fit nicely.

Thanks for the info, Steve. I'll just have to take her into work tomorrow and try one out. I think we've got a G&G in stock. Mine is about 13 1/4", but I'll give it a try. If I can sell the Modulus case that came with it I might just end up shelling out the cash for the new Ric case.

Hey Brian, shoot me an e-mail, in my profile.

I have a late model plastic case that has seen better days but still protects the goods. I'd really like to help you and help myself up to a vintage case for my 4004L.
