With all the excitement of the cool new forum and tweaking my profile, I hadn't posted yet about getting the '99 4003 Mapleglo from Jeff Hansen (ustabawannab).
It's in pretty nice shape. Several very minor digs that you can't see on mapleglo unless you look closely in the light and there's an area where he rested his arm that the has the clear coat missing on the binding.
Whoever setup this bass did a great job. Dead straight neck. Good to know that there are some guitar repairmen out there who can do a great job setting up a Rick the right way without complaining about it!
Jeff did an awesome job packing it up, no plain old ordinary packing job.
This bass really sings! It has DR low riders on it. In all my years of playing, I never tried them before. Now I know what the hype is all about, wow!

Nice bass Joey.

Tell me about those DR Lowriders.
I have only used them on jazz basses....they work well on Rics do they?

Nice bass, Joey!

That would make a great fretless 8 stringer; I bet Dane could do that no problem. :P

Thanks guys!
Tony, you are too kind.
Mike, it seems the DRs are are good choice for the 4003.
Jeff, I've run a few questions by Dane about his 8 string mod, to which he was happy to answer.

Enjoy!!

Wade at Wade's Guitar Shop in Milwaukee (on the fashonable East Side) did the nut, setup and the VTC mod.

I tell you folks I'm a huge Spocks beard fan. The DR Lowriders 105-45 nail Meros's sound. I run an Eden WT550 and D112XLTs and I can get gobs o' Ricky goodness.

Nice bass! Wade's is a fantastic shop and they do great work. They're setting up my 77 4001 for TI Jazz Flats right now.

Was that bass on the rack in the store a few months ago or so? I saw a nice one there a while back.
