'73 4001 fretless with toaster but without CB

Hi,
I managed to locate a really nice '73 MG 4001 fretless (looks original), I don't have the serial number yet but the seller list it as a 73.
It has half inch space for the neck pickup and this is a toaster.

IIRC - the toaster was gone with the CB, could it be that it was sold with toaster but without CB?

The image is not good enough to search for split tailpiece and it has dot inlays like any other fretless I saw, so I can't "time" it by full-width inlays.

So, Until I receive any message from the seller - is such combination available?
The seller wants $3250 for it, b.t.w...

There were basses made with the toaster after the CB was discontinued, so it most likely is original to the bass. The split tailpiece was gone long before the toasters were so I can't imagine that bass having the older tailpiece. Let us know more once it is in your hands.

Thanks,
I'll keep you posted.

And yeah - I forgot that the split tailpiece was gone before that period :|

Here is the image,
I think that $3250 is a bit expensive for a non checkerboard binding '73, would you agree?

The guitar is MH, which dates it at Aug '73. Isn't it too late for toasters???

I have attached the pics, please share you thoughts.

That FL looks really nice, but I agree the price is a bit high. I think some toasters went as late as early '74, somebody correct me if I am wrong.

That is a nice 4001FL. I also think the price is a bit high, especially without CB binding. That's yet another August '73 without CB binding. My August '73 has a toaster and CB binding. I think you're right Jeff, the neck hi-gains started showing up in the 4001 later in '73, but I've seen a few from early '74 with a toaster.

That is a nice one, looks just like Paul Yahn's 72 except for the obvious already brought up things. Hey Jeffrey I like your new look. (I like that smiley too)

I would say that $2500-$3000 would be about the going rate for here in Europe if it is in very good+, or better, original condition.
