This act whilst in my view relatively well known did not really set the charts alight, had only one hit in UK in late 60's and only 2 in US.

The act's albums tended to take well known songs and give them completely different interpretations.

Having considered the clue, as well as listening to the song, I have submitted my guess. I have to say I think it is chronic. I prefer the version that was a hit in the UK.

Got this one Roy. The version I remember was by José Feliciano, and painful to recall as his style did not suit the song. While I agree that your artist's arrangement is disturbing, I still prefer it to Feliciano's.
