One of my favorites, "Hey Little Girl", by the Syndicate Of Sound. Done on a Rickenbacker 12. Also the rhythm guitar of "Psychotic Reaction", by Count Five, is done on a Danelectro bouzouki 12 string.

OPW, as my band played it.
Of course the chord placements are wrong, but you know where they go. Sorry

OH, PRETTY WOMAN - Roy Orbison and Bill Dees

Verse
A F#m
Pretty woman walking down the street
A F#m
Pretty woman, the kind I'd like to meet
D E7
Pretty woman I don't believe you – you’re not the truth
No one could look as good as you

Pretty woman, won't you pardon me
Pretty woman, I couldn't help but see
Pretty woman, that you look lovely as can be
Are you lonely just like me?

Bridge
Dm7 G
Pretty woman, stop awhile
C Am
Pretty woman, talk awhile
Dm7 G C
Pretty woman, give your smile to me _ _ _
Dm7 G
Pretty woman, yeah, yeah, yeah
C Am
Pretty woman, look my way
Dm7 G C A7
Pretty woman, say you'll stay with me _ _ _
F#m D E7
'Cause I need you, I’ll treat you right
A F#m D E7
Come with me baby, be mine tonight _ _ _

Pretty woman, don't walk on by, Pretty woman, don't make me cry
Pretty woman... don't walk away, hey
Okay, If that's the way it must be, okay
I guess I'll go on home, it's late
There'll be tomorrow night, but wait
What do I see?, [Riff] She's walking back to me
A
Oh, pretty woman!

Some of the best on Ric 12 for me (that aren't Beatles)

Mother's Little Helper- The Rolling Stones
California Girls- The Beach Boys
Help Me Rhonda- same
I Get Around- same
Sloop John B- same
Little Girl- Syndicate of Sound
Psychotic Reaction- Count Five
Pretty Woman- Roy Orbison
Love Potion Number 9- The Searchers
It's Cold Outside- The Choir
Happy Together- The Turtles
Making Time- The Creation

When I get one of my 12's out, it's usually a few of those that I start off with before moving into new territory.

A Hard Day's Night - The Beatles
I Should Have Known Better - The Beatles
If I Fell - The Beatles
You Can't Do That - The Beatles
What You're Doing - The Beatles
Ticket to Ride - The Beatles
If I Needed Someone - The Beatles
It's All Over Now - The Rolling Stones (I know there was no 12-string on the song, but you can get a good jangle from it)
Mother's Little Helper - The Rolling Stones
And basically anything by The Byrds from Mr. Tambourine Man to Younger Than Yesterday

I would add the following, regardless of whether a 12 string was used on the original or not.

1. Handle With Care - Traveling Wilburys
2. Spooky - Classics IV or Atlanta Rhythm Section
3. Bus Stop - Hollies
4. Look Through any Window - Hollies
5. When You Walk In The Room - Searchers
6. I'm Alive - Hollies
7. Lady Jane - Rolling Stones
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Let's see, there must be some old songs that I can think of that have no Rickenbacker 12 string on them. How about:
  • St. James Infirmary Blues
    Nowhere Man
    I'll Follow the Sun
    Secret Agent
    Every Day (Buddy Holly)
    Aimee (Pure Prairie League)
    Sin City (Gram Parsons)
Poncho & Lefty (Townes van Zandt)
City of New Orleans (Steve Goodman)

One song that I like is The Derailers' Just To Spend The Night With You? I know it's not an old song, but in my opinion, it has some classic licks that work well with a RIC 12 string.

BTW, The Derailers' sound has been described many times as "Bakersfield Meets Liverpool". Just To Spend The Night With You appears to be more Liverpool than Bakersfield.

I saw the Seeds right about then on a flatbed in a parking lot, and they were Fender gear all the way. Sky played a silverflake Jazz bass that just fascinated me.

Not to say they used the same gear in the studio. But were there many Marshalls out here in the mid-sixties?
