That was my first bass ever. An old beat up Vantage bass. I think I had been playing bass for a year then.

Steve, was the Vantage a neck through with multi neck wood laminates? If so, I know what bass you are talking about. The one I'm thinking of was a nice bass.

Hi Steve,

Your bass playing is great! It's tasty and well placed. I have to mention your brother as well! He is really fluid. He has his chops down pat. Thanks for sharing those clips.

Thanks Brian I really appreciate the comments.

Joey....I know what bass you're talking about. No it's not that bass. I used to have a neck through guitar just like the bass you speak of. The Vantage bass I had was a bolt on neck. It was black and has a "P" pick-up configuration. After I got my 72 Telecaster bass I stripped the black from the Vantage, ripped out the frets and inlaid some maple strips where the frets were. I also reshaped the headstock on it and sprayed the whole thing with clear laquer. I then put a set of EMG pups in it and also added a jazz EMG pup along with a Badass bridge because the original bridge was an aluminum piece of ****. Later on I removed the jazz EMG pup and added that to the Telcaster bass. I then made a small thin piece of maple to cover the jazz pup hole on the Vantage. This is how it looks now.

I doubt you'll like it, guys, but that's the closest i ever got to blues. It's even called "Passerby's blues". ("Technically", it's not blues, though; and i cannot play or sing either. )

Steve, I've never seen that model before. Looks like it would be a good backup bass.
