Well, it's a done deal. I have my 4003FG 4-2-5 back and qwezi' has the 4004cii MB. We are both happy campers! He is able to get the action right down where he wants it, and I have a single coil Rick to go with the P/J. For those that remember Bruce tried to straighten the neck and it only lasted a couple of weeks. He could never get the action low enough due to that little hump in the neck. It doesn't bother me at all as my action setting is higher than his. I don't really need the humbuckers since I put the P/J together. In fact, I may sell the SD stacked jazz pup, and put in something else. Darkstar? I was also thinking of wiring the stacked jazz like a humbucker to see if that is what I want. I like the quietness of the stacked jazz, but it can't compete with the quarter pounder volume wise. Enough of that, this is in the RIck Basses forum.

Just wanted to say another deal gone right within the "brotherhood".

Here's something kind of odd. I picked up the 4003 today to see if I can get the action where I like it without having to shim the nut. I took a turn on the bridge allens, plugged in, went to the bridge pup and, no sound! I first took off the jack plate and tightened up the jack, still nothing, so I took off the pickguard and a wire had come off prior to my checking of the jack. It was a wire from the stereo jack to a vol control so it must be in the bridge wiring. No big deal, back up and running, just odd that it would break the day after the swap! I must have weakened the joint when I put the vintage cap mod in. So............it's all cool!

Gads, what more can I break on that bass for you?!? Did I whack that solder joint in putting the pick guard back on after the last truss rod straightening attempts? I apologize profusely about that. I had no idea that volume was not working the last I played the bass a couple weekends ago.

No, no, it was working fine. I tried both pups on Sat. It was just a co-inkydink, I think!

Must've been one of those slow vehicle lanes pulling the first two mountains in California all rutted and bumpy from the truck traffic bouncing that joint and my teeth loose.
