Rick bass guitar effects

Howdy all,
I'm looking to purchase a new effects stomp box/board. Currently I have a Digitech BP200, which is great, had heaps of effects, but does them all at a pretty average quality. A friend has left his Electro-Harmonix Big muff for a few months and is taking that back, so i'm looking at buying something to replace that.
I have been looking at an MXR Blowtorch, which gives fuzz and distortions to the middle EQs of the bass. I love how it is very customizable sound wise, say, compared to a Bigmuff. I used the big muff with my BP200, so I had distortion, and then used chorus, wah, and a few others to get some crazy sounds. But does anyone have a Blowtorch? Something similar? Or even better use it with a Ric?
If anyone has any type of effects that go well with a Ric bass I would love to hear what they are!
Thanks

I run my Fulltone Bass Drive into my EH Russian-made Bassballs for kicks sometimes, and it's a pretty wicked sound. Never had the opportunity to use it in a song yet, but it sounds pretty cool.

I've heard great things about the ZVex Wooly Mammoth. Never tried it though.

The Sans amp is cool as are many distortion pedals ... but for me it is my old trusty bass pod ... I use the old original version ...

The MXR M80 is a good little preamp/distortion/noise gate for bass. I liked it better than the Sansamp.

i have an old mutron pedal, and an ART phatboy multi-efx that i really like. the art has a compressor which i hardly ever use,and a limiter which is on all the time,as well as chorus/flange/echo/etc. it has stereo outputs in case you have 2 amps, and a "growl" circuit, which seems to give a slight tube-drive sound that the cii hb-1's really like. i also have a digitech multi-efx/8 track recorder, which has about a million settings, and is really solid, but ultimately too much for my feeble mind

to deal with,so it will probably go on the "bay.

Ever since I sold all of my Mutron pedals in the early 80's, I've used BOSS effects. I now have a BOSS ME-50B which has loads of good distortion and other modeled effects.

Thanks for the replies!
I have checked out the M80, and from looking at review sites such as harmony central, a lot more people have them, and rate them a fair bit better then the Blowtorch. Though i'm not sure what they really sounds like, and how they work with the pre-amp. Unfortunately both aren't in many shops here in Australia, so it will be hard deciding and trying to find where I can try them.

After having the Sansamp BDDI and the RBI, I preferred the MXR (sold it like a dummy), its an extremely well built box that has a tone I like. I think its easier to use, and doesnt seem to "scoop" the mids like the Sansamp products, although I havent tried the Sansamp RPM with variable mids.
I have a QSC RMX 1450 power amp and a nice Ampeg single 15 cab. Im thinking of getting another M80 and running it soley as my preamp.
Although I may try another bass pod xt. I had one of those also, but really didnt give it a chance....I think once you get onto the operation of the thing, they'd be great.
That is the nice thing about Ebay,,,you can buy something, try it a while and if you dont like it, you can flip it and try something else.

I was going to just use my BOSS ME-50's as pre-amps for both of my channels into my Ampeg SVP-1600, but found that they didn't have enough gain or basic tonal capabilities. For my full time pre-amps, I have a pair of Ampeg SVPCL's. They don't have a ton of knobs, so they're easy to get some great tones out of and are essentially the pre-amp section of a 70's SVT.

I've got a Boss GT6B multieffect, and I love it. (It sounds exactly like the individual boss pedals, when used correctly.) It's also got amp modeling and a lot of stuff most bassists would consider too "weird"...

I just bought a second hand EHX POG and I love it. It can do anything between a very good Octavider, a church organ and an 8 string bass just playing through the neck pickup of an early '73 Rick.
