Finally got a `66 335 Rickenbacker in Fireglo!!

I finally picked up a vintage Rickenbacker 335. Ever since I made the mistake of selling my `67 Fireglo 340 about 20 years ago....I have been yearning for a `60's 330 style fireglo guitar. It has been worth the wait. This guitar is mint and looks unplayed. There is not a scratch or wear mark to be found anywhere on this baby! The story is that it was actually left in a closet from the late 60's when the owner went to Vietnam, until now. Original black Rick strap and polish cloth are also in the case. I'll post a couple of photos on Wednesday.

I too have a '66 335 FG (and I know there's a few more here that do). That, and my '68 335 JG are the most wonderful guitars- the neck, slim headstock, everything! Rickenbacker really should do a 'V' or 'C' model of a classic 330/335 with the same features- I don't know if I've ever played 330s from any era that were better (and I've owned or played Ricks from the '60s, '70s, 80s, etc. to the present).

Congrats and welcome, John!

I picked up this 1966 340 in June 2005 on eBay with a $900 BIN price; while not mint, it's in excellent condition and it came in its original silver case. Oddly enough, my 1997PT (made in 1987) plays a lot like it!

Oddly, too, these seem like the best years for the old Ricks, and the 330-bodied ones seem to have been the best of the lot. As far as I can see, the post-66 period was a time of excessive dealer stocks, too. Now they are being recognized for what they were--beautifully-playing guitars.

That's the cleanest '66 I've seen...since '66!!

Look folks--no ambering on the varnish.

Thanks ! I have been playing it around the house.....a lot. It is so clean that I would really be afraid to play it out with the band. Now I guess that I need to find a 60's "beater" Rick to gig with.

Wow, is that ever like winning the lottery! What a find. I would be staring at it constantly, and I'd probably tell people with a straight face that I've recently fallen in love with a closet queen.
