Les Baxter's Balladeers

Something that has been occuring to me; I think of the way David sang in The Byrds, and the voice he "Found" later on for CSN&Y.
When listening to just his parts on the first two Byrds albums especially; he's really singing those parts like a 1940's crooner, as opposed to the "Feel & sound" of his "Almost cut my hair" voice from years later.
I'm really thinking that his experience with Les Baxter kind of "Held over" into The Byrds, (These things usually do with musicians) and if so, this is a VERY CRUCIAL element and influence in that "Byrdsound".
Again, it's almost always the synthesis of styles that has made the most memorable music, I think anyway.
By the time of "Everybody's been burned", his love of Jazz is really coming through, especially during the timing on "I know that dooooooor, it shuts.........just before...and stuff.
I really do hear this tune as a prototype for "Guinnevere". There are similarities in the two songs.
Any thoughts here?
