Poor England. No Euro excitement now....so sad. I can't believe it. They had such a superb group of players but it just never seemed to come together.

:(

Pity, that........ and the manager cops all the heat!! Not one English speaking country in Euro '08.

By losing this game, England helped my country get into Euro '08... not sure it wasn't a disservice, though, but our local football fans are very glad, some also feel pity for England.

When you a talented group of individuals and you can't make them work together as a team, then it's poor management. End of story.

Players, like any other people in a workplace, have to be motivated and inspired.

A good manager like Hiddink, gets the most out of his players. Russia have no players of "world class" but have been the better "team". They have over acheived and produce more than their sum of parts. McClaren and England are the polar opposite, a man and team with no vision, no passion and no hope.

Thankfully, he's gone, and England needs a man who understands the game on all levels,(ie, an overseas manager) and, more importantly, someone at the FA who has the balls to appoint him.

Are you saying that McLaren was 100% responsible, Wints? A bit harsh, IMO.

in football (soccer) the trainer is usually held responsible when a failure occurs...normal procedure

Not 100% Aitch, but he's the guy who's in charge of making the machine work. Some guys can squeeze the lemon just that little bit more, knowing how to extract the most from the fruit...

This bloke didn't even know how to hold the fruit...

Fair enough then Wints. God knows who we'll come up with as our national coach...... I think all the good ones are either otherwise engaged or ducking for cover!!

Oh well... who cares? Cricket season is upon us!

Now we're talking Aitch!

What other sporting event can you go to and drink for 8 hours a day, for 5 consecutive days, without getting a result!

Now, if I could only get the sun to shine at Canterbury more often.....
