I have a QSC RMX 1450 power amp and a couple of bass cabs lying around unused.
I was wondering if the Sansamp BDDI or a MXR M80 would be enough of a preamp section to use with this setup with good results, or should you go with an actual rackmount preamp?

I know it sounds like a silly question,,I've had both and they each have their own voice, (I prefer the M80 actually), but you only hear of people using these as an add-on to an existing rig,( myself included ) Does anyone out there use one of these plugged straight into a power amp ??? If so, I like to here your opinion.
Thanks

Rig question?

Re: Rig question?
I have read many times of the SABDDI being used to drive power amps just fine. You may have to crank it to get full power but it has been done. I have not heard the same for the M80, not that it couldn't be done; why not tell us of your results. I do hear a lot about midrange suckout from the SABDDI, but that may depend on the speakers used with it.
Re: Rig question?
I just think it would be nice to set up with the power amp and cabs,,, and locate the BDDI or the M80 where you need it for a quick tweak instead of running back to your amp and fumbling around in the dark with knobs.
Maybe Im crazy,,,,I'd just like a small, powerful, ergonomic rig.

Give it a try. We all want small, lightweight great sounding rigs!
