Jean: The truss rod cover, "nameplate" is a Rickenbacker trademark that is protected. Perhaps my assumption is incorrect, however, it would seem that your reason for this request is to make a copy. Should I be correct in my line of thinking, The RickResource Forum does not support such practices.

David, normally I'd agree with you, but I think he more likely owns a copy he's trying to make a fake TRC for.

A bold entry, a proud entry, a manely entry - but buzzzzzzzzzzzzz aint happenin here. As noted - the piece is a trademarked item and well.... so um...welcome to the forum. What flavor Ric do you have or want to have, what strings do you use, what drove you to be a Ric-o-phile......

Almost nobody realises that Rickenbacker designs are still solely the property of RIC, and that it is illegal to copy them, and most of our own posts do not seem to clarify this. Some of the above responses could be misconstrude as being motivated by snobbery rather than by law. While I'm sure none of them are, I can certainly see the possibilty of them being taken the wrong way, especially in light of a market dominated by Gibson and Fender copies, which have never been trademark protected as actively as RIC's designs.
I think the original question is a reasonable enough enquiry for a new forum member, and that it is better served by simply identifying the legalaties such as Peter and Tom did, rather than possibly confuse the issue with too many opinions. I still think it needs to be clarified just in case there is any confusion:
1) Rickenbacker copies are Illegal to produce and illegal to sell because their designs are the sole property of RIC. The abundence of Gibson, Fender (and even Lamborghini) copies, has no bearing on the legality of Rickenbacker copies.
2) Correctly labelling a Rickenbacker copy as a copy does not make it legal to produce or sell. The design is still stolen property, regardless of how it is labelled.
3) Refusing to deal in, or positively discuss Rickenbacker copies has nothing to do with snobbery, but with acting ethically in respect to the law.
4) Most people are unaware of this, and we do not hold that against new forum members.
...Welcome to the forum, and as Tom said, what are you interested in, what's your favourite Rickenbacker, what guitars do you currently own?
