I'm after a new set of the stock standard RIC 4003 strings, but I can't get them here in Australia.... Does anyone know where I can get a hold of some, and from someone who is willing to ship to Australia?
Cheers!
Josh

You can get them from the Rickenbacker corporate boutique!
I find the DAddario strings tighter than most other brands including rotosounds (which is my favorite providing there is enough fret on your bass)
In Australia it is also worth trying the "Puretone strings" they don't cost a lot and they are a rather good string (I use them on my EB-3 and I suggest them to customers that I do setups for. Their bass strings are good but I don't like their guitar strings)
Somtimes the Rickenbacker strings turn up on ebay too, I might try them on my 74 4001 (once I get it going)
emac.

Hi Heptagram, I use D'Addario EXL220-5 on my 4003s5 and EXL170 on my '74 4001. As Weemac stated they are a little stiffer than most, but I like 'em and have used them for decades. My next fave is Rickenbacker strings. You might try places like
http://www.juststrings.com or
http://www.sitstrings.com/index.php I believe they ship international for the D'Addarios. For Ric strings you might give
https://homer.netmar.com/~muscon2/order.htm a shot. Good luck with it.
