Speaking of Ric collectors, the new January 2008 "Vintage Guitar" magazine ($4.95 U.S.) has a nice write-up on Doug Fieger, the "Knack" guy. He's got a gorgeous '67 Ric 4001 fireglo that he purchased new, as well as others. He's pictured holding a 1965 360/12 on the first page. He noted how he always covered his belt buckle and buttons to keep them looking good. Some of his guitars have been around the world a few times, but they don't have a scratch.
He's still got his first guitar, which is the 1963 Gretsch Country Gentleman. He also wishes he'd never sold his prototype Rickenbacker Capri. He's only ever sold two guitars and had one stolen. Good article. The '67 4001 is a work of art.
He's been battling cancer, as an initial lung cancer spread. Seems to be in remission now.

Good article.

That '67 is sweet, and you don't see many 4001 basses from that year. Cool guitars as well.

Let's hope he stays healthy too...

Saw him on a televised "Countdown Spectacular 2" concert only the other day singing that song (you know the one)
Doug has kept his voice and energy a lot more than many other acts of his time and he looked if he was having plenty of fun too.
Good on Him!
