Toasters - and education if you please!

Can someone kindly give me a tutorial on how to tell a vintage toaster from a newer reissue?

I'd like to know what the look of each was like in the neck and bridge position and also what the bass toasters looked like and how they changed as well.

Pictures would be a great aid if possible.

Thanks all and happy holidays!!!!
Russ

Thatb toaster is from my old 1968 4001 ... the magnets were shorter, the screws were actually clipped off to be that shorter length ... also many times vintage parts had straight screws and not phillips ... also the aluminum base plate is shaped different from the modern base plate ... some of the old toasters had longer magnets ...

Jeff, that's exactly where I get confused. It seems that some basses have neck toaster with long poles (like the C64 reissues for instance) and some vintage basses have short poles or staggered poles. Was there a definite blueprint that Rickenbacker followed or was it kind of random like many of their other parts?

Thanks,
Russ
