Master Volume Schematic

Does anyone have a well thought out master volume schematic specifically for Rickenbacker guitars that they can share with me?

I want to modify my 350 and I would prefer the master volume to be the pot that is currently the neck pickup volume pot. I am not sure what to do about the 5th knob so I am looking for ideas.

Yes that would be worth looking at Brian - if you get any info off forum, keep me in mind won't you. :)

.....chirp, chirp, chirp (the sound of grasshoppers - more like cicadas here in OZ LOL)

Plenty of watchers Brian, but it appears if this info is known, people are a little reluctant to share with us. :(

Come on guys we won't tell anyone else about your masterpiece - will we Brian? :)

BTW I took the time to find out what your signature meant - very deep and meaningful

Ron,

I'll have to look into the answer to my question in another manner I suppose. Perhaps trial and error   I am sure it can be sorted out. If I figure it out I'll be sure to send you instructions how to do it. We could always ask Aitch to rip his 350 MB apart, because his is wired that way IIRC. He'll probably tell us to go to someplace hot and uncomfortable though.

Btw, yes that is a deep latin phrase. I have always loved it.

Yeah...... like Melbourne!!!

Brian, I'd be happy to take the guards off the 350v63MB...... no problem at all. My major concern is that the diagram I make from it will be totally unreadable!! :D

I can certainly take some pics for you. Ron is coming over Sunday so maybe between the two of us we can put together a schematic for you. Just remember that on mine the 5th knob is the volume control.

Just sing out if I can help in any way, mate. :D

A good, big, clear picture with the pickup wires defined as to which they go to would help a great deal. I'd be willing to proof any drawing you and Ron come up with. It would even then be easy to make that 5th knob (yours is master volume) into the neck pickup volume control so the neck pickup volume control could be the master volume as Brian wants. Not having a Rick guitar, I'd need to know what the 5 knobs do and their layout.

No probs, John, but it will be done in crayon on a very large sheet of paper. And there will be lots of stick figues around the edges with big smiles on their faces. Mabe some cats, too............ :D

Brian, no help on the schematic here, but the Latin phrase in your signature turns up in one of Heinlein's earlier books, perhaps "Tunnel in the Sky" (1955). As I recall, it appeared above the doorway of the space cadets' academy...

Hi Paul,

It's the motto of the Royal Air Force. Very loosely translated it means "until we reach the stars" The actual translation is perhaps a little more cryptic but no less meaningful, but I have it on fairly good authority that the loose translation as I know it is very close to the original intent.

From the official RAF website: The College of Arms has stated that "no authoritative translation is possible" but the usual translation is "Through adversity to the stars".

Btw Aitch,

Any help that you can provide with either a schematic or photo would be of great help to both Ron and I.

Thank you Aitch,

I may just use your exact setup to begin with. I want to be able to roll back the master volume just a hair when I need to but still keep the tone that I selected on my 350. With the work that Sergio did for me on my pickups plus sustain of the HB1, this guitar not only looks fabulous but it is a tone monster. Ultimately I want to have better control over the great bluesy sound it produces in both and live recording situations.

It always shocks people that have never heard my 350 before, especially when I slip into a tasteful blues lead. They don't expect it to sound anything like a Gibson. But it does. Who said you can't play blues on a Rick anyway?
