Hey folks, I have a monster web page, loaded with songs, if anyone wants to check it out.
http://s87948338.onlinehome.us/steve.htm
There is lots of Rickenbacker on here, although I am by no means a great guitar player or anything like that. Still, there is something there. If you want to hear 12-string, check out :
Time, The River, The Ocean (Melibee's favorite)
Cloaked in Misery
Better Than Hurricanes
Sentimental Shiver
Lone Rider
Also, other Ricky tunes (guitar and bass) would be :
What Happened to You
On the Chin
All I Ask
Picture of Me
On Your Side
Roses In My Garden
Check it out, or, if you don't have that sort of time, I'll understand !

Cool ! I made that sound with my Tele and my friend with his SG. I think there are like 4 or 5 electric guitars clanging around on that song.

Sounds like something I would do!!!!
honestly, I'm beginning to think that proper production skills are 80% of a great sounding record!

Cool, Steve.... So glad to see you posting your stuff here--you're much too modest about your talent!

Well, if you want to create that wall of guitar sound, SG and Tele go together quite nicely, sort of like the ying and the yang. On "Boomerang", the SG has full-on overdrive, whereas the Tele is much less so (more clangy and chimey). If you overdrive all the guitars too much, I think the sound will turn into a wall of sizzling static. You need to preserve some level of musically when layering a bunch of squawking buzzsaws.
Honestly, you need everything to make good-sounding recordings, including good songs, inspired vocals, tight drums, and on and on. In the end, the instrument I end up using the most are my own ears. If it sounds good, I record it. I have done enough of these to the point that I am familiar with the sounds my equipment can make, so I don't spend alot of time fussing around. I wrote, recorded, and mixed Woodwork in less than 10 months, so, if anything, I have streamlined my process !

That's a complement, seeing that your stuff on the MySpace page sounds killer. If I lived in LA, I would most certainly be a fan ... Steve-O.

Great Steve, I just listened to Time/River/Ocean. Is that double tracking on the voice or chorus?
