Probably (no, surely) someone here who will know more than I, but I'd guess they're pretty darn similar, both maple bodies, both 3/4 scale. The original Ric news release talks about using some of the original tooling, etc. to make the 325JL. Possibly some differences in the pickup windings?

I guess another factor might be the (somewhat) limited production total of the JL, though I'm not sure almost a thousand units of the JL is that limited. I've no idea how my c64s have been produced, but of course they're still making them.

Wish I could help more....

This older thread from the RIC forum may help a little.

Another big difference was the type of toasters used...

The late 80's/early 90's 325JL signatures had the super-hot 12k toasters, while the 325C64 has the newer, more original-sounding 7.5k toasters.
