Nice coloring, but where's the walnut?
Did they use sap wood?

So, if a guy was to order a new 4003, it could come with or without the slimmer neck profile and walnut wings?

I guess they had some old stock lying around and sent them out. You'd have thought they'd have finished them in Jetglo or Mid Blue.
John Biscuiti has one like that.

I think the latest basses made have the Walnut Wings and the vintage tone selector.

My 2007 4003FL AFG didn't have wings either.
Both John & I got our bases the same week.

I hope they keep the walnut wings.
To me, that little feature nails the "classic" vibe of the Rickenbacker bass. Check binding would be nice but.....
