I got a J-retro preamp for my jazz bass. I am quite pleased. It makes my 4-2-5 jazz bass a tone monster. I have 2 dean basses and a SX musicman clone with preamps. But the Jazz with the j-retro beats them all. The J-retro has a bass boost, Treble cut/boost, and a sweepable mid cut/boost. The whole setup is very cool. I will add a battery box to the assembly to make battery changes easier.
The J-retro gives you the active power but you retain much of the Jazz bass growl.
2 thumbs up!
