I have a 4001V63CS and I would like to wire it from it's origional (mono) wiring to STEREO.
I really want to hear it the way it should be. My othere Ric basses through two amps/channels is unbeatable.
Does anyone here know what I need to do? Does anyone have a wiring diagram that shows what is needed to go from mono wiring to stereo?
Any help would be great!
I'm no wiring genius, in terms of electronic language etc, I can solder just fine.
I guess I need a "wiring your Ric bass for dummies" guide!

And, why weren't the Chris Squire basses just wired in stereo to begin with?
Maybe because not everyone has two amps?
But, isn't that part of the sound of a Ric bass? Especially Chris Squire's bass?

Thomas, you would need to get a Switchcraft stereo jack to replace the one in the bass, then solder the output wire from the bass volume control to the ring connection of the jack, then the output wire from the treble volume control to the tip connection of the jack. A shield needs to go to the sleeve connection of the jack.

That's it??
I thought it would be way more involved than that.
Not sure what you mean with the "shield", but I guess I can check how my other Rics are wired from there.

Just follow this schematic and just eliminate the mono jack. I'm no electronics genius either.....but it's pretty self explanatory.

My computer, (I want to throw it under the ice in my frozen pond now!!) won't let me open the file.
It tells me that there is a problem with Adobe reader, eg: "you do not have access to open the file" or something of that sort.

I think I will be able to figure it out. (the wiring part)
Not only am I a wiring dummy, I'm a computer dummy as well.
