I was browsing over at
http://www.redferns.com (highly reccommend it) and found some interesting pics of PT and his Rics.
Check out the bridge on that 1998...guessing the original got bent or messed up and it was modded into what we see here, or perhaps somebody custom made a new one when his broke?
Nice custom repairs on that 1993 headstock

In the 1998 picture, you can see inside the F-hole that Pete's stuffed the body with some material to reduce feedback. That tailpiece looks very homemade.

Yeah, I can't explain either mod...

It looks very homemade, but wasn't there a 1996 on Ebay in the past year with a similar tailpiece? I remember that there was some conjecture over the origins of it.
Those repairs are a good example of why he switched to Fender: cheaper and modular construction made it much easier to reconstruct after a show.

I can only imagine how well his 1993 stayed in tune after repairs like that. Guess we'll never know, though

Steven thanks for that first picture. I've never seen that one. Why did I sell my PT Rick a while back ...DUH....

Guitar techs back then weren't half as good as they are today. I imagine if Pete sent his 1993 to someone like Paul (Jingle_Jangle), it would be in tune and wouldn't look beat up in the slightest.
Unlike Pete, when I play Who stuff on my Ric 12, I don't ram it into the amp for a vibrato effect...

You'd think that 1993 would be fairly easy to spot these days...
If, of course, it didn't end up as firewood sometime ago. ..

I hope that some us will spare our Ricks from becoming firewood:

Check out this 1998. It has a Gibson ES-175 tailpiece, and Pete's stuffed paper in the f-hole!

Look closely. That's not newspaper inside the guitar...that's Pete's shirt showing through--he's whacked the back of this one!!!
(JOKE)

Look on the floor, there's both Rics discussed in this thread. Ironic, eh?

Yep, along with Entwistle's slab P-Bass (on the floor, not leaning). I like how Moon only used half of his Premier drum kit in the studio and the rest was for show.

Nice one PW!
Any chance that tailpiece is an accent with the business end removed? I beleive he wasn't a big fan of said vibrato apparatus.
