I found this looking on the net and it is quite creepy...
Note John is not there but his glasses are behind Ringos shoulder:

I'll agree - That's pretty far out there, and not very flattering.

It looks like the old Genesis video characters from the song Land of Confusion.

Yeah, maybe some of our UK brethren can chime in, but I think these guys are pretty famous, had their own show with their caricature puppets...Anyone?? Bueller?

Some of "Paul's" lyrics in that last clip are better than some he's actually recorded...

Geez-Louise! That caricature of Ringo looks more fitting of a portrait of Quasimodo. And that expression on George's face isn't a grin, but a terrifying grimace (complete with yellow teeth, too!).

Jim, you never noticed these things before?
Caricatures take the most unique features of a person's physiognomy, and exaggerate them. I thought at the time (mid-'80s) that these guys were absolutely savage and brilliant in their portrayals. It was fun for me to revisit them. I recall that their Phil Collins puppet impressed Phil so much that he used their skills in one of his own MTV videos.
All of the characters in the above 3 videos are hilarious, and were they given the same high-definition still photography, perhaps they would have the same effect on us. The Herr von Wilcox (Hitler at 80) puppet was brilliant; Maggie and Ron NAILED their look and their affect (not to mention voices!)
I agree that these were not necessarily flattering, but, jeez, IMO terrific satirical imagery.

Brilliant show at the time.
No one was safe. Very biting and hard edged in places, and something that would never have got major airtime here, especially Reagan in "The President's Brain Is Missing" sketch, where Ed would pop open his head and drop one in....

Jake, you needed to have been around back in '85, in order to have some sort of historical and political perspective on the whole shebang.
(Sorry to pull the AGE CARD, but in this case...)
