This Girl can play the Bass

I have the DVD of this concert and this girl can play some bass guitar. She's probably half Jeff age if that.
This song in particular is cool because she takes a little solo BUT the youtube recording is really lacking in the mix to hear her
as you can on the DVD of the Crossroads 2007. Check it out:

Tal is more like 1/3 or less Jeff's age! Some great music on that DVD.

Her name is Tal? What's her last name? Where's she from? Has she played with anyone else?
I love the way she plays. Really a Bass sound - no slap or pop just real smooth low tone.
Do you know if she has any other recordings?

Hec, I buy her a Rick just to see her play it? Do you think that's a fretless (I'm not a bass player but it sounds fretless to me).
Maybe it's her style - what ever it is I like it.

Yeah, Bass Player magazine had an article on her this summer:

She obviously has a lot of talent. But I don't care for that tone at all. Too fingertip and rubbery for me.

Any amazing talent. I think a bigger amplifier would have helped.

Lovely little solo there in a great piece.

She has the raw talent, and will surely refine her technique to improve her tone, which certainly didn't sound too sad for these ears. My 74 P-Bass has a Jazz p/u added and I get a similar sound up there on a maple neck.

One to certainly look out for...

There are several clips of her on YouTube, including a solo from a "Bass Day" clinic.
She always has that kind of tone.

Amp size has nothing to do with it. At Crossroads with Jeff Beck she was playing through four 4x12 cabs!
I've heard Casady put out killer tone playing through a 15-watt SWR practice amp.
It's all in the hands.

Plus, the kind of tone she has is popular with the style of music she plays. It's just not my kind of thing. As Jack always say, a bass player should be "pushing air."

Thanks for the links. I really enjoy her playing. It is a different tone than I'm hearing all the time which is probably why I liked it.
Was that a fretless she was playing on that tune on just her style?
