Case question

I have a 330/360 case. It has a blue interior, form fitted type, with a horizontal side pocket type compartment for picks and stuff, and a rectangular, boxy looking neck rest. It has a blue type on blue warranty card in it (the part to be filled out is missing.) The guitar it came with is a '66. Just wondering if anyone knows what era this case belongs to.

Sounds like a late '70s to early '80s case. They went from blue lining to black aroound 1982. The blue came back in 1989-90 or so, but the body area was no longer form-fit. A scan of the warranty card would help a lot.

Yes, I remember those blue cards from the 70's and 80's.

That card pegs it as a late '70s early '80s. They changed the typeface about 1985 or so.
Nice cases. They are made with thicker construction than the later ones and they weigh a freakin' ton.

That pic of the warranty card brings back memories of getting my first 4001.

I noticed this yesterday, when I picked up the empty case and noticed how heavy it is.

+1. I really like them though.

Yep, my 1982 4001S case weighs a ton and I love it. I've joked that it could survive an atomic blast. I just received a new SKB Ric case today for my latest acquisition. Interesting, SKB isn't using the vanilla scent anymore, at least that new case doesn't have it. Love the form fit though.

Well it's perfect then. I keep a former '66 330/12 that was all but subjected to an A-bomb, but has since been gut rehabbed and is now the spittin' image of a 1993. So it's got protection via this vintage case it deserves.
