How's about a list of your favorite hard rock and metal concerts? Provide the year of show if you can remember it.

I got hooked up with a backstage pass to an Iron Maiden show on the Dance of Death tour, must have been January '04. Just awesome.

Also gotta include seeing Metallica in July of 2000 on the Summer Sanitarium tour. It changed my life - within a week I had my first bass.

It was Jason at the time, but it wasn't necessarily Jason who inspired me (it was Cliff) - I was already a huge fan, but seeing a concert just made me want to be in a band so badly. In fact, it was me and the three guys I was with who got our instruments and started playing that week.

That's awesome. Newstead is a great player, but you never really heard it with Metallica. I highly recommend checking out the first Flotsam and Jetsam album, he's all over it.

Not really hard rock or metal, but ny all-time favorite was seeing my all-time favorite band, Descendents on their 1996 reunion tour. This band is what made we want to pick up bass.

Suicidal Tendencies, Danzig, & Metallica in 1994.

Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes in 1999 because it was in MA and Joe Perry showed up and played a few songs.

Let's see.....

Metallica-"Ride the Lightning" ('84-ish). I got to meet them and chat for a little while at a signing earlier in the day. My friend had his Burgundy 4001 autographed by Cliff and my brother's Gibson flying V was signed by Kirk. Ended up in the second row of the mosh pit all night.

Motorhead- in about '85 they played a small ex-movie theater and large sections of plaster literally fell from the ceiling since it was so loud. Simply unforgettable.

KISS- 1st reunion tour in '96. A dream come true to see 'em live in full gear. High energy blast of a show.

Metallica- "Some Kind of Monster" tour. Great seats and just a great live band.

Iron Maiden- "Piece of Mind" and "Powerslave" tours. At their best IMO.

Saxon in about '85.....I don't remember much about it but for some reason it always comes to mind as a great show. They opened for Motley Crue.

Slayer in roughly '86 (possible "Hell Awaits" tour) with Exodus and Venom. Good times, good times!

Alice Cooper put on a great show (again in about '86) and I got to meet him and chat for a few after the show. He seemed like a real nice, down to earth fella.

Rob/White Zombie....have seen him/them several times and always a treat. Highly recommended.

Talas (with Billy Sheehan) and Manowar were two shows that simply blew me away and got me to look at bass guitar in an entirely different light.

A local band called "Destructor" ( I was sort of a roadie) always high energy and put on great shows......I vividly remember every one. Mid-80's.

These are the standouts that come to mind. (sorry for rambling)

My number 1. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime I & II tour. best show I've ever seen. It was more like a musical than a real concert. November 2006. Not to mention I was right in the front. Great seeing them for the first time up close like that.

After that it was anything. Ryche, Alice Cooper annd Black Sabbath (Ok, Heaven & Hell) was badass. That was 07.

KISS Farewell tour in 99... or was it 2000? whatever, that was a great show.

I've also seen Talas.. don't remember the yeah. Yes, it was with Sheehan. Crazy player.

Also Ryche from 11 days ago was pretty sick too. Front row once again.
