We have now located 39 Model 4005s worldwide.

At this point we need more photographs submitted so if your 4005 is listed please take the time do do so. Roughly 42% of these instruments are found outside of the United States and 58% within the country.

With regard to finsihes, approximately 47% are Fireglo, 26% Mapleglo and 5% Jetglo.

That this model is a rare breed is an understatement. The model 4005 comprises less than one percent of the total registrations to date.

Better make that 40 4005s. I'll register my '65 Blueboy later today.

I am at the ready, John. Please send along some photos too. Time to put a few on the wall of the Thicket! Why should the Hard Rock folks get all the business.

i`d like to register my 4005,its just arrived today!!!!its a 1968 fire-glo in very good condition,if you can tell me where to send the pixs i`ll post em!,

I'm a newbie to the site, and this is my virgin posting, so please be gentle with me!...

I live in Glasgow, Scotland, and I have a 4005 - Serial VE 1374 - I'm guessing May 1981, but I'm sure someone can put me right on this?

It's an ivory white finish with black trim- happy to post pictures if you can let me know best way of doing it?

The original ivory finish has yellowed with age, and it looks as if at some point the previous owner had tried to install an active switch (yes, I know!...), but it's now just a standard passive.

There are a couple of slight dings, but nothing serious.-and I don't have the original Rickenbacker case unfortunately.

It's a thing of beauty, and fairly gladdens the heart!

Look forward to hearing from my new Rick bretheren!

Welcome, James! Yours would be the only white one in the Register! V is 1982. Looking forward to the pics.

There are 69 4005's in the register so far. Still pretty darned rare! Since there are 135 Chris Squire basses in the register and there were 1000 made (?)... If we were to assume that we have that same percentage of 4005's as CS's in the register, then that makes about 511 4005's produced!

(Libratune) Ron has kindly volunteered to post the pics of my White 4006- I'm a bit of a luddite when it comes to new technology. (Thanks Ron!)

I've recently started gigging the 4005 again for the first time in many years- I don't like to think of it as a museum piece.

I'm using it through a recently restored (ancient) 60's Vox 50 watt bass head via a 1x18 vox cab + 2x12 vox cab
- the sound is incredibly rich and awesomely deep, but with a real growl when pushed hard.

For sure, It doesn't have the punch or edge of a 4001/03, but it is still a pretty unique and unmistakable sound!
