1948 Rick SP recording

Here is the 1948 Rick SP...
This is just the guitar plugged into a Focusrite TrakMaster preamp, direct into MBox(1) for ProTools LE. No compression, EQ, or anything. It sounds good mic'd too. I'll get around to that in the next few days.

Looks just like the 3 I keep inside my swisscastle, next to the 8 '59 Les Pauls and Georges 2nd Rick.
Sounds pretty good too!
It would sound esspeciall good through one of my original AC30's, or maybe my wall of all original plexis

It sounds good Jdog.
The horseshoe has a unique sound. Your SP kind of reminds me of the Combo 850's that I have heard (with the same horseshoe).

Thanks, gang... wait till you hear it unplugged... stay tuned. I'm drunk and have a rare night off, so I'll go downstairs into Studio A and record it right now...

Here it is again, with the mic on the left, a Neumann TLM103 about 18 inches away, and the right channel is the direct plug in, without preamp.

Edit: it's tuned down one whole step with what seem to be 10 gauge strings on it. Plain 3rd

Both clips sound great. It will be a versatile and potent studio instrument.

Hey J - what a great guitar! Where'd you find this thing? Thanks for posting some sound samples. Nice job on 'Tambourine Man,' by the way! AND 'Don't Fear The Reaper' (How many of you caught that?) I'm looking forward to hearing this SP in some of your tunes.

Jason, a great sound!! That is a gem... I like both of the posts. Man that is one fine sounding guitar. And you play pretty darngood as well. Thanks for sharin!

Thanks guys! I can't wait to try some slide on it. Plus, what timing... I get my '40 Kay M-1 bass back today after about 6 months in the shop. That will be a match made in heaven.
