Hi forum!
Just bought my first ever bass (from pick of the ricks).
What would you recommend as a nice little reasonable amp?
More for practice than anything but I'd like to have the flexibility to use for small gigs maybe.
I've looked at the Fender Rumble, the Ampeg 115 and the Peavey 110.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have found my Markbass Minimark to be quite nice and sounds great with all my basses. It is really small amd light but sounds far bigger than it is.

Well, I don't know about the "best" amp for bass, that is all subject to your needs and how it sounds to your ears.
I used to have a huge rig, and now that I'm not gigging anymore, not because I don't want to gig, but it's that there is a lack of musicians where I am, but anyway, I now have two of those GK microbass amps for stereo use. They sound great to me and if I really want to I can plug in external cabinets and if I ever have the chance to gig again there is an XLR out on each amp.
Heck, if I want, I could just bring my Sans amp bass driver DI's and plug right into the house system and use monitors for hearing the bass on stage. No need for an amp there!
I'd really like to hear what my Ricks in stereo sound like through two Ampeg SVT setups running about half way up raging through Siberian Khatru or Hemispheres!
Just for fun.

Has anyone tried the tiny and lightweight Euphonic Audio amps? I saw two models last week but didn't get a chance to play them. One was about 2" x 9" x 6" and weighed about 3 lbs or so it seemed. 300W output from that little package.

I'm a fan of the GK Microbass combos as well. Very portable and user-friendly, plus they are dirt cheap on the used market.

Definitely a matter of personal opinion and preferences. I use my Ampeg SVT Pro II with 8X10 classic cab, but for practice and small gigs I really like my Fender BXR 100.

Have anyone of you ever compared a Ampeg SVT-Pro with a Ampeg V4 (B)?
Cheers.

Carvin makes some great cost-effective stuff. I have a little 50 Amp single 15 solid state amp of theirs that sounds great and is smaller than one of those mini-bar refrigerators. I use it all the time in the studio.

Ashdown ABM. I used to use a vintage Ampeg V4. This sounds just as good and weighs 60 pounds less!
Oh, and Sir Paul likes them too.

I travel a lot now due to my profession, my head and cabs are at 'home' (place where I seem to store ****

.
However I just purchased a Mark Bass MINI CMD 121P and all I have to say is 'sweet', the Minimark was also sweet but I splurged the extra $100 to get more power and push a little air.
I'm a big fan of such a little amp.
Still love my stack though but the Marks a good mistress
