Southern Rock

Gregg Allman once quipped that calling this music form "Southern rock" is a bit redundant; it's like saying "rock rock."
However, rock and roll mostly started as a result of the music that emanated from the South and rock and roll will forever be influenced by its Southern roots.
I have always enjoyed bands like The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Oak Arkansas, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Marshall Tucker and so on. I also liked another Southern band "The Atlanta Rhythm Section" even though their sound relied more on tight harmonies, their music belied their Southern upbringing. Even to the most casual listener it is readily apparent that this band was deeply influenced by those who played Southern rock.
These days Southern Rock has been embraced and integrated into Country and Western. They are calling it outlaw country. So much for genres remaining static.
Any one else here like Southern Rock as much as I do?
